Belmont Hill beat Nobles today 8-7! This match was much closer than I expected and apparently the match was tied at 7-7 before Jack Welch finished his set at third singles for the 8th and deciding point.
The chart below is pretty self explanatory but I want to point out a few things.
- In a battle of freshman phenoms, Carl Reid dropped his first set of the season and this result could potentially influence the MVP race by letting Nate Collins and Andrew Lebovitz back into the picture.
- Will Samuels had a very dominant match at sixth singles, losing only a few games over the course of the match.
- Belmont Hill saved itself by winning 4 of the 6 second sets after being down 5-4 at the conclusion of the first sets.
- If the two teams had been playing the 7-Point system I blogged about a few weeks ago then Bel Hill would've been up 2-1 with 4 third set super tiebreakers left to decide the match.
